The Board were moved by the below feedback we received from the school of programs first ever recipients:
Kia ora TAKA Trust
I am writing to offer my full support for the Taka Trust Access Scholarships and to share some of the positive experiences our boys have had as a result of this initiative.
Last year, the boys greatly benefited from participating in the Naenae Youth Boxing academy. We saw notable growth in their confidence, engagement, and overall wellbeing. This was a valuable opportunity for the boys to develop relationships and have positive interactions with their peers in a small, highly supported and structured programme. For many of those involved (not just the boys), the opportunity to participate in this programme was not only a highlight but also provided a sense of belonging and achievement.
This experience not only brought joy but also fostered teamwork, resilience, and personal growth – qualities that are invaluable for their future.
The positive impact of this initiative is evident in the way the boys speak about their experiences and in the confidence they now bring to other aspects of their school life. This grant enabled us to offer this opportunity when it was no longer financially viable for the school
